Objectives Upon completion of the course students should have an understanding of Marx's interpretation of history, of Nietzsche's interpretation of morality and of Freud's theory of civilisation, and should have been provided with an understanding of concepts and conceptual systems together with the historical knowledge necessary to grasp the premises, structure and implications of these theories;
Synopsis Selected writings of Heinrich Heine, Karl Marx, Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud and the critical theory.
Assessment Written (4000 words ): 70%
