Objectives Upon completion of this subject students are expected to have developed an overview of the communications and media history of Australia; an understanding of the key developments in communications and media in Australia; and an ability to analyse significant developments in Australia's communications and media history.
Synopsis This subject is designed to provide an overview of significant developments in Australian communications and media history by concentrating on three important decades: the 1880s, the 1930s and the 1960s. Students study these decades in detail looking at technological developments, newspaper and magazine formats, journals of public opinion and the treatment and reportage of news.
