Objectives The research project is intended to help students develop the relevant expertise in respect of the conduct of serious research in linguistics, with a view to preparing them for subsequent enrolment in research degrees.

Synopsis The research will involve specialisation in a relevant topic and will be reported in a project of 9000 to 10,000 words. It will be supervised by one or more members of the Department of Linguistics who are experts in the selected field of study. The topic will be selected by the student in consultation with the likely supervisor and the coordinator; the precise topic and the choice of semester in which the subject is to be undertaken are both subject to departmental approval.
