Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should prepare illustration for printing with full understanding of the technical requirements; work creatively as an illustrator in a role of productive cooperation with designers, editors and art directors; work as an illustrator, with understanding of basic business practices, including costing, the writing of contracts, copyright and legal obligations; appropriately and successfully promote their practice as a professional illustrator.
Synopsis This subject examines the role that illustrators play in cooperation with designers, art directors, editors and production staff. Their place in the commercial environment is studied with particular emphasis on the financial and legal obligations of illustrators. Self-promotional options are explored and placed in action while developing a viable illustration practice.
