Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students will possess an understanding of the formal language of painting, especially composition, volumetric relationships and colour; an elementary command of the resources of representation, especially relating to perception of a suitable motif; a critical eye for aesthetic cliches; curiosity for the potential of image-making techniques and interest in the meaningful relationships between subject matter and the manner of its representation.

Synopsis Studio practice is based on consideration of the elements of colour, design, visual texture, space and form. Projects are set to focus development concentrating on specific aspects of these elements.
