Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be self-motivated and able to design a program of work with a coherent direction; produce works that display conviction, confidence and control in the handling of concepts and materials; be able to imaginatively and constructively criticise their own work and the work of others; be able to isolate areas of their work that require further research and sustain a directed inquiry into these; have an advanced studio management practice incorporating safety procedures.

Synopsis Students are encouraged and assisted toward the development of an independent studio practice with greater emphasis being placed on individual tutorials. These help to define personal directions and establish a program of practice which allows students to meet the objectives and sustain themselves beyond the end of the course. Group sessions provide a forum for critique and discussion among students. An advanced conceptual lucidity, a prowess and innovation in material manipulation should be manifest at this stage of students' practice.
