Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to plan and work independently on images of strong personal conviction; be capable of clearly articulating the major conceptual issues implicit in their chosen area of visual research; be able to make informed aesthetic judgements about the character and quality of their imagery; possess an understanding of how their approach to image-making relates to the history of Applied Arts expression; be able to present a folio of drawings that most clearly demonstrates their artistic concerns.

Synopsis With the necessary conceptual and technical competence now attained, students, in consultation with the lecturer, plan and implement a study program directed toward developing a personal visual language to the highest level. Students are ecpected and encouraged to be increasingly independent in project definition, visual research and problem-solving. This subject is designed to enable students to become active, informed and confident participants in contemporary applied arts discourse.
