Objectives On successful completion of this unit students should have an understanding of the fundamental concepts in working with digital video and audio; have practical experience in acquiring, digitising, trimming, editing, composing, and output of digital video/audio; have an understanding of project and file management issues, and practices related to DAV; have an understanding of digital file formats used in digital AV, and storage/publication options; be able to optimise a basic workstation for the production of digital video/audio.
Synopsis Students are required to assemble video, audio and titles in a short composition. Editing techniques, composition and transitions are covered. Use of video camcorders for content acquisition, basic principles and techniques covered. Image file formats, compression concepts, data management, storage and distribution methods are explored and discussed. Students have the opportunity to produce a short video sequence. Students are required to provide their own storage devices/media.
