Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to prepare confidently and competently a variety of artwork using specialist `industry standard' software for page layout/publication; use a variety of software to create and manipulate graphics files for inclusion in documents; format complex text content for publications; determine cost and time effective solutions, and production schedules for print-based publications.

Synopsis This is the final unit in an area of specialisation for visual communication students. As well as advanced typographic and image preparation, formatting and control, the unit provides an opportunity to further develop skills and apply concepts to a variety of production processes. Preparation of artwork electronically for various processes requires specific technical considerations. New techniques and emerging trends are investigated. The course is delivered to small groups of approximately fifteen students and may involve presentations from visiting lecturers or plant tours as is appropriate.
