Design Studio 5

* 24 hours per week, including 6 studio/seminar hours and 18 hours of independent study

* Prerequisites: DGN2104
* Corequisites: None

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to have the capability to develop a personal aesthetic that responds to the contemporary discourse; undertake design projects with a high degree of resolution of all project factors; competently resolve the technical and/or structural requirements of the design; specify the production scenario for the design; communicate the design with high quality presentations and specifications.

Synopsis Projects will be multi faceted, and multi disciplinary. Students will undertake studies of the contemporary discourse in spaces, objects and images and their embodiment as habitats, artefacts and communications and related social theory. Students will articulate and test their individual design philosophies in studio discussion.

Assessment projects: 80%
* Verbal and written presentations: 10%
* Paper on contemporary discourse in interior architecture: 10%
