Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to produce two and three-dimensional glass objects using kiln-forming methods; use kiln-forming techniques to make coloured and specific glasses; confidently predict and interpret results of kiln firings; be able to use a range of kiln types and firing methods as appropriate for required outcomes; be able to research the work and working methods of (kiln-forming) glass artists.
Synopsis This subject introduces new methods of kiln-forming glass. Emphasis is on interpretation of ideas and designs developed in Glass Theory and Practice or Kiln-formed Glass 1. The fortnightly seminar gives students the opportunity for discussion of technical, technological and aesthetic issues as they relate to studio projects.
