Regulations made pursuant to Statute 6.2 Exclusion for unsatisfactory progress

1. In these regulations, unless the contrary intention appears, `the statute' means Statute 6.2 Exclusion for unsatisfactory progress.

2. Any notice to be sent to a student or an appellant for the purposes of section one of the statute or for the purposes of these regulations shall be sent by being delivered to him personally or by sending the same by prepaid post addressed to him at his last known residential address or, if posted so as to reach him in the ordinary course of post during an academic term, to his term address if different and in either case the address shall be that shown in the records of the university.

3. Any appeal made by any student pursuant to section 3 of the statute shall:

3.1 be made within fourteen days of the date on which the notice of exclusion was sent to him provided that the Academic Board may allow an appeal to be made to it out of time if it thinks it equitable to do so, in which event the student shall be deemed to be no longer excluded pursuant to paragraph 1.3.4 of the statute;

3.2 be made in writing and delivered to the academic registrar; and

3.3 be in the form of and with the particulars required by the notice of appeal in the schedule hereto.

4. In hearing and determining any appeal pursuant to section three of the statute, the Academic Board:

4.1 may in its discretion decide whether or not any party appearing before it shall be permitted legal or other representation;

4.2 shall not be bound by the rules of evidence;

4.3 shall send to the appellant and give to the dean of the relevant faculty prior written notice of the time, date and place of the hearing of the appeal;

4.4 may adjourn any appeal at any time and from time to time either when it thinks fit or on the application of any party appearing before it;

4.5 may seek such information as it thinks fit from the relevant faculty concerning the academic progress and record of the appellant and the making of the decision to exclude the appellant.
