12 points * Four 1-hour lectures and one 6-hour laboratory class per week * Second semester * Clayton * Prerequisite: PHS3042

Objectives As for PHS3042.

Synopsis Students who have obtained a pass in PHS3042 in previous years and wish to convert this to the equivalent of PHS3022 may enrol for PHS3062. The units `Nuclear physics' and `Solid state physics (lattice and electronic properties)' are compulsory for those students who did not take them in PHS3042. Students who intend taking honours physics in their fourth year must take the `Quantum mechanics' unit.

Assessment Examinations (4 x 1.5 hours): 67% * Laboratory work: 33%
