MAS2032

Statistical inference

4 points * Second semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: MAT2061

Objectives On the completion of this subject students will understand the basic procedures of statistical inference associated with the Normal distribution and be able to apply these techniques to practical problems using MINITAB where necessary.

Synopsis Sampling distributions associated with the normal distribution; confidence intervals and hypothesis tests based on the normal distribution (one-sample and two-sample tests for means, variances and proportions). Inference for simple linear regression, including confidence limits and prediction limits. Introduction to analysis of variance and covariance, and multiple regression. Use of MINITAB.

Assessment Examinations (1.5 hours): 80% * Tests and/or assignments: 20%
