This course aims to develop the mathematical knowledge and skills appropriate for careers in commercial, government or scientific enterprises requiring quantitative problem-solving as part of planning and decision-making, or in secondary mathematics teaching. Students study two of the major sequences in statistics, applied mathematics, pure mathematics, operations research, and at the same time develop essential supporting computing skills.
Within the BAppSc regulations, students complete at least two of the major sequences - statistics, applied mathematics, pure mathematics, operations research, plus one of the pairs of computing and information technology subjects GCO1811/GCO1815 or GCO1851/GCO2851.
An example of a program with a maximum computing emphasis is: first year, GAS1062, GAS1613, GAS1614, GAS1615, GAS1631 and GAS1711; either GCO1811, GCO1812 and GCO1815 or GCO1851 and GCO1813, plus one six-point elective.
