Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject students will be expected to discuss the possible application of research to all aspects of the practice of nursing; identify nursing problems that need to be investigated; use an area of nursing practice as a means of gathering data for refining and extending nursing practice; apply established findings of nursing and other health related research to nursing practice; share research findings with colleagues; understand the strengths and weaknesses of the various research methodologies which may be utilised; demonstrate the ability to write a research proposal; understand the ethical issues involved in the research process.
Synopsis This subject introduces the collection, analysis and use of both quantitative and qualitative data in nursing, with special reference to ethical requirements.
Assessment Two reports following community health visits.
