Nursing practice 2: Concepts and practice of nursing care
9 points * 6 hours per week (lectures, tutorials, labs) plus 150 hours clinical * Second semester * Gippsland and Peninsula * Prerequisite: NUR1101
Objectives On completion of the subject, students are expected to discuss the principles of care for clients in a variety of clinical settings; discuss the concepts of impairment, disability and handicap and the relationship with health wellness, disease and illness; demonstrate an understanding of the physical, psychological and social changes experienced across the lifespan; plan, implement and evaluate care for clients using a problem solving approach and a framework of preventative nursing care; demonstrate effective communication and personal interaction strategies in working with clients and other health care professionals; demonstrate safe clinical practice based on sound theoretical knowledge.
Synopsis The focus of this subject will be on the development of nursing skills that support individuals where they have interruptions to health and/or unable to undertake normal activities of daily living. The subject uses systematic approaches to decision making for planning and the provision of nursing care.
