Objectives On completion of the subject, students should have developed an understanding and appreciation of the social factors implicated in the concepts of health and illness; obtained an awareness, understanding and appreciation of the social factors implicated in the provision of health care; developed a critical appreciation of the inequalities in health status among various groups in contemporary Australian society.
Synopsis The identification and appreciation of the social basis of health, illness and treatment through a critical analysis of variations within Australian society. Further development of the sociological perspective in nursing, health care and society.
Assessment Tutorial attendance and tests: 40% * Examination (1 hour): 60%
