Objectives On completion of this unit students are expected to understand the nature of psychology and its scientific basis; demonstrate knowledge of basic psychological process; understand the basic components of effective communication.
Synopsis Nature and scope of psychology; biological bases of behaviour; consciousness - altered states; perception; learning; memory; cognition; emotion, motivation; communication as a tool of effective nursing. The subject is taught by lectures and workshops.
Assessment Examination 90 mins 60% * Written assignment 40%
