Objectives The student is expected to gain basic knowledge and understanding of the structure and operation of diodes, transistors and operational amplifiers and their application.
Synopsis Introduction to semiconductor devices and their characteristics, applications of diodes such as clipping, clamping, rectifiers and filters - series inductors and shunt capacitors and L section. Transistor modelling and amplifier analysis and design, operational amplifiers, amplifier configurations, inverting and non-inverting adders, subtractors, non-linear applications, frequency response and time response of circuits and their interpretation, feedback and stability - closed and open loop gain, bandwidth improvements.
