5 points * 26 lectures, 13 tutorials, 9 laboratory classes and 3 field trips * First semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: CIV3263

Objectives To develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of hydrologic principles and methods and to acquire the specific skills required to solve examples of practical water engineering or water resource management problems.

Synopsis Hydrologic processes and catchment modelling for yield estimation and flood estimation purposes. Streamflow regimes, catchment yield, storage-yield-reliability analysis, streamflow data generation. Risk and uncertainty. Flood estimation: flood frequency analysis, design storm estimation, runoff routing. Soil water, groundwater movement. Principles of water resources systems planning and management. Water law.
