Computer systems design
G K Egan
3 points * 16 lectures, 9 practical hours * Second semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: ECS4373
Objectives The student is expected to develop an understanding of ways of estimating the performance of computer systems using analytical models and simulation and the ability to design computer systems to meet given specifications at a reasonable cost.
Synopsis The process of designing and planning for implementation of systems consisting of computers, computing equipment and software, with the purpose of meeting a set of goals established at the outset. There will be a design project for which each student will be expected to develop a sound solution taking into account the functional requirements, the performance requirements and the sizing of components.
Assessment Examination (2 hours): 60% * Practical work: 40%
