F Crusca
4 points * 26 lecture hours, 26 laboratory hours * Second semester * Caulfield * Prerequisites: ELE3231
Objectives The student is expected to acquire a basic knowledge and methodology for controller design based on the results of system analysis and required specifications.
Synopsis Frequency response analysis: control system analysis in the frequency domain, polar plots, Bode diagrams, Nyquist stability criterion, system modelling using frequency response method. Compensator design: lead or/and lag compensators, PID controllers. State space analysis: solutions of state equations, state transition matrix, controllability and observability, pole placement controller design, robust controller design. Introduction to discrete-time systems: z-transforms, time response, stability.
Assessment Examination (3 hours): 60% * Assignment/Laboratory work: 40%
