Peninsula campus
The Centre for Continuing Education is a self-supporting unit operated by the Faculty of Education, Monash University, and is located within the Peninsula School of Education. The director of the centre is Mr Michael Kupsch.
Its main purpose is to offer short courses and training programs of the highest quality to a variety of occupational groups as well as members of the general community. It is able to respond to these groups by quickly designing and developing educational programs suitable to their needs.
With an ability to draw upon the resources of the faculty and its three constituent schools, the centre has the capacity to coordinate and facilitate a range of professional development programs for primary, secondary and early childhood teachers, as well as for those working, or wishing to work in a support role with children. It is also able to assist principals and their administration teams with their strategic planning and review of school programs.
The centre represents the interests of the faculty to various key government and non-government organisations regarding professional development and vocational training, in particular the Victorian Directorate of School Education, the Catholic Education Office of Victoria, the Office of Training and Further Education, the State Training Board, other state and federal government bodies as well as various professional associations and community groups.
The operation of the centre essentially entails the following elements: the conduct of feasibility studies to ascertain the potential for a course, including the commissioning of expert course developers; course development; the application for accreditation of the course by the faculty; promotion of the course; course delivery; evaluation.
The centre will continue to enhance its competitive position through the use of electronic delivery of off-campus programs and publications, enabling it the potential to reach much larger markets than previously thought possible.
A brochure on the centre and its activities is available from the centre and inquiries may be made by telephoning (03) 9904 4240.
