Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to outline the key issues in social commentary on computers, computing and technology from an educator's perspective; offer explanations of current ideas, critiques and trends in a form suitable for the school community; show evidence of a wide critical reading of the issues involved in the place of technology in modern society; relate their reading to critical reflection.
Synopsis Students will engage in critical reflection on the historical and political context and impact of technological change in general and computers in education in particular. They will become conversant with the issues of gender, participation, equity, control, privacy and freedom of information.
