Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to articulate an informed view on the central issues about equity in education; plan specific school and classroom experiences for pupils to raise, and explore equity issues; assist teaching colleagues to identify and handle aspects of educational inequity; implement general educational programs which will develop and foster equity in educational settings.
Synopsis The focus of this subject is on an examination of the theory and educational implications for schooling, curriculum and teacher-pupil interaction of the area of equity in education. The subject includes an examination of aspects of gender roles, multiculturalism, social equity and the impact of bias and discrimination in these areas and the impact on education.
