Studio arts - sculpture/painting (Education)

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed elementary skills in, and an understanding of, painting and sculpture techniques along with further development in the computer graphic, drawing and design areas; have investigated elementary modelling and assemblage processes; have investigated painting processes, surfaces and their preparation using various techniques and media; have experimented with 2-D computer graphics and basic computer animation; have reflected and responded to visual art forms by developing aesthetic and conceptional awareness; and developed a knowledge of relevant terminology.

Synopsis The subject continues to explore contemporary approaches to art practice and aims to develop and increase confidence and skills across a range of media. Emphasis will be placed on experimentation and concept development. The subject will examine art practice and theory through lectures and seminars, excursions to galleries and studios, leading to the development of strategies and activities for classroom application.

Assessment Painting and sculpture folio: 60%
* Drawing folio (6 pieces): 30%
* Class paper (1000 words): 10%
