Objectives At the completion of this subject students should have an informed understanding of the comparative method in librarianship and a knowledge of practices in a range of other countries and the part played by professional organisations.
Synopsis A general introduction to the comparative method in librarianship; a systematic study of libraries and librarianship in two or more countries and an identification of issues; a comparative study of problems and possible solutions; the role of regional and international agencies in library development.
