Objectives On completion of this subject students will be able to understand EDI standards, networking technology and security mechanisms, and to assess the feasibility and system requirements for introducing EDI in their organisations.
Synopsis This subject emphasises the technological aspects of EDI. Topics include benefits of using EDI, EDI standards, EDI software and hardware, networking technology and third party networks, EDI through the Internet using MIME encapsulation, EDI implementation steps, security, auditing and legal issues, EDI and electronic funds transfer, and case study.
Assessment Two assignments: 50%
