Objectives At the completion of this subject students should be able to understand the fundamentals of projects, the roles of people involved in their development and the organisational structures possible; have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the methods and techniques of contemporary project management; and have acquired the working skill necessary to establish, track and monitor a project with a current aid used in industry.

Synopsis Projects in contemporary organisations. Project selection. The project manager: characteristics, responsibilities, techniques. The project team and its organisation. Project planning: budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation. Project management information systems: monitoring, control. Project auditing. Project termination. Information systems project management. Project management software aids.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 60%
* Practical work: 40%
