Treasury management for financial institutions

Objectives Students will gain an understanding of the role and functions of financial and corporate treasury operations and develop strategies to assess and manage risks faced by financial institutions in the course of their operations as part of a global economy. Theoretical models will be utilised to enable analysis of techniques for managing various types of risks faced by financial institutions operating on a national and international scale.

Synopsis Topics include role and functions of a financial institute treasury operation; understanding differences between financial institution treasury operation and corporate treasury operation; risk management techniques for a financial institution treasury operation; derivative products and their use in managing risk; requirements for successful evaluation of treasury performance.

Assessment Assignments (5500 words): 50%
