Quality control

Objectives After successfully completing this subject the students should be able to appreciate the importance of quality in the current competitive environment; understand the statistical theory related to the measuring of quality; apply appropriate statistical techniques to any of a range of measurement problems; apply the techniques learnt in the class room to real world problems.

Synopsis Topics covered include the principles of total quality management; the traditional and new seven tools of total quality management; acceptance sampling; control charting for attributes, variables and individuals; process capability analysis; special control charts; industrial experimentation and evolutionary operations analysis.

Assessment Assignments 20%:
* Project 80%.
