Objectives On completion of this subject students will be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the management role and the crucial contribution that managers make to organisational effectiveness; demonstrate an understanding of the major behavioural science theories and concepts relating to the behaviour, performance, and productivity of individuals and groups in organisations; identify a range of individual, group and organisational factors affecting individual and work group performance and productivity within a systems model.
Synopsis Responsibility for people development; the changing culture of organisational life; strategic planning for human resource management; relationship between HR strategies and the other strategies of the manufacturing organisation; skill and experience development and training methods with attention to computer-based training (CBT) techniques; motivation and the role of incentives, industrial relations, award restructuring, management and work practice improvement.
Assessment Two assignments: 30% each
* One assignment: 40%
