Synopsis The subject studies Spain from 1936 to the present day. The approach to be used is interdisciplinary in nature, allowing lectures to survey major social, political and cultural developments of the period. Tutorial work focuses on specific textual and audiovisual material: cultural documents, literary texts and films. The main goal of the subject is to present a coherent and balanced account of Spain's emergence from a backward, predominantly agricultural country in the 1930s to a modern, progressive industrial nation today.
