Prerequisites: A pass in CHI1470
Objectives Students must complete both parts 1 (CHI1470) and 2 in order to develop: (1) the ability to speak Mandarin fluently and accurately, (2) the ability to transcribe Chinese characters in pinyin, (3) the oral/aural ability for formal and informal modes of communication across a range of social and business contexts, (4) the ability to write formal correspondence using appropriate business business vocabulary, (5) a knowledge of mainland Chinese business practices.
Synopsis Further development of advanced conversational skills in Mandarin. Fluency and accuracy in Mandarin will be emphasised.
Assessment Weekly oral/aural exercise: 40%
