Prerequisites: Current enrolment in or completion of a level C Japanese
language course
Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to go beyond word-for-word translation, be able to read for content and meaning, have an ability to use various dictionaries (including kanji dictionaries) for reading, and be familiar with grammar patterns used in everyday communication.
Synopsis This subject acquaints students with various features of the Japanese language through the reading of Japanese texts. Emphasis is placed on developing reading skills.
Assessment Examinations (2 hours): 50%
