Prerequisites: Level D Japanese or its equivalent
Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should be able to comprehend written Japanese presented in a journalistic style, able to comprehend Japanese television programs, and able to read authentic materials selected from Japanese books and newspapers. Students should also have a thorough knowledge of kyooiku kanji (1006) and jooyoo kanji (500) and be able to recognise a further 200 jooyoo kanji (in total 1706 kanji).
Synopsis This is a very advanced level of spoken and written Japanese which is designed to bring the student close to semi-native competence in the language.
