Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should have a systematic understanding of Japanese grammar at the intermediate level and have developed skills (including the use of basic honorifics necessary for work domains); be able to establish relationships with Japanese business people, interview them and write a short report, a formal letter, a resume and undertake a job interview and recognise 250 kanji newly introduced in this subject (in total 700).
Synopsis This is an intermediate Japanese subject which aims to consolidate and further develop the knowledge of Japanese acquired so far. Apart from the study of Japanese systematic grammar, the subject covers both spoken language and contemporary written language. Language acquisition through active interaction in and out of the classroom is encouraged. Emphasis is placed upon interaction which occurs in situations in Australia. An off-campus option is available (JPL1350).
