Any of the four graduate diplomas in the department may be taken by students who have obtained a bachelors degree or otherwise have the equivalent preparation. Language prerequisites for individual diplomas differ, and applicants should consult the department for further information. The Graduate Diploma of Arts can be taken in four areas: Japanese studies, Japanese business interpreting and translation, applied Japanese linguistics, and the Japanese language.
