Prerequisite: WEL3310.
Objectives On completion of this subject students can expect to have become more familiar with a number of specialised areas of practice; participated in peer supervision processes wherein other students present some aspects of their work practice for exploration; presented for peer supervision some aspect of their work practice or other relevant experience; explored in some depth one chosen area of practice; examined a number of professional development issues from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
Synopsis The subject involves the study of the following topics: play therapy with children; couple therapy; loss and grief; addressing cultural issues; gender and sexual orientation; therapeutic memories; therapeutic frames; sexual taboos; suicide and burnout.
Assessment Written report of peer supervision session (2000 words) 30%
* Essay of choice (4000 words): 70%.
