Beginning Indonesian, part 2

Objectives On successfully completing the subject students should have extended their facility in Indonesian grammar, increased their vocabulary to 1000 words and diversified their conversational range. They should also have gained understanding of the Indonesian/Malay language, with particular reference to its relationship with neighbouring languages, its historical development and its achievement of the status of national language of Indonesia.

Synopsis This is a continuation of INM4110/5110. Each week, the first lecture deals with grammatical issues. The second lecture discusses the history of the Malay language and its development as Indonesian, the national language of Indonesia. The practicals continue to develop proficiency in basic communication tasks though with more sophisticated sentence pattern

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 60%
* Assignments, tests and oral tests: 40%
