Graphic design theory

8 points * One studio hour and one 1-hour lecture per week * Full-year subject * Caulfield * Prerequisites: GDN1110

Objectives On successful completion of this subject the student should be able to demonstrate competency in creative research and practical problem solving skills. Range of projects: language and typography research, cultural research, cross-disciplinary design research, creativity research.

Synopsis The knowledge and skills obtained in GDN1110 (Graphic design theory) will be further developed through a series of lectures and projects that will assist the student in their effective communication of visual design concepts. During class critiques students will be exposed to group opinion and will be expected to clearly present their particular approach to problem solving. This is a core subject and its successful completion is prerequisite to undertaking third-year studies.

Assessment Six assigned projects: 100%
