Systems analysis and design

Synopsis This subjects covers the development of computerised information systems. The broad systems development lifecycle of requirements determination, evaluation of alternative system solutions, design of chosen system and implementation will be used as a framework for the subject. Students will become familiar with the activities and deliverable products of each stage of this lifecycle and will be acquainted with the tools and techniques used. In particular, systems modelling techniques will be explored and some skills developed in using these. Current issues in systems development, such as CASE tools and business process reengineering, will be examined.

Assessment Examinations (2 hours): 60% + Practical work: 40%
