Recent philosophy

8 points + 2 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisite: A
first-year sequence in philosophy and two 8-point second-year philosophy
subjects including at least one of PHL2110, PHL2130 or PHL2170. A basic
competence in logic is required
Synopsis The subject will follow some central themes in twentieth
century philosophy. The first half of the seminars will revolve around
student-initiated discussions.
Assessment Two essays (3000 words each): 50% each + Optional replacement
of one essay by a 3-hour examination + Satisfactory participation in
student-initiated discussions will be required
