Research project

8 points + 3 hours per week + First semester: Distance + Second semester: Caulfield/Distance + Prerequisites: PCE1010, PCE1020 and two second-year PCE subjects

Synopsis Identifying a research area; legal and ethical issues in research; use of library and other resources of research purposes; presenting research proposals; research design, data analysis, and general methodological issues, evaluation skills in research. Each student will prepare, under staff supervision, a research paper upon an approved topic. Originality in the examination of data and the presentation of arguments is required. The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the methodological issues and debates involved in social science research and to develop in stsudents appropriate research and presentation skills.

Assessment Research report (6000 words): 80% + Seminar participation: 20%
