Analytical and compositional techniques I

Synopsis This subject aims to strengthen students' analytical and compositional skills. Leading methods of harmonic and formal analysis are learnt by application to representative works of various periods and genres, with a concentration on the structure of music in the tonal era.

Assessment Written (1500 words): 20% + Examinations (1.5 hours): 40% + Assignments, option of notated exercise in place of written work: 40%
