Synopsis The subject covers the performance, performance practice, analysis and history of the student's chosen chief instrument repertoire, knowledge of a second instrument or alternative second study and ear training. Under the guidance of a departmental supervisor and a studio teacher students are requested to (i) prepare for performance on the student's chief instrument a unified program of works from at least two historical periods accompanied by original program annotations, and (ii) complete a critical, analytical and historical assignment.
Assessment Written (1000 words): 15% + Aural training assignments and examination: 15% + Practical performance examinations (1 hour): 70%
