Synopsis This subject is a core component of the library and information services major, providing an understanding of information policies and infrastructures at global and national levels. It will convey a general awareness of information policy and infrastructure issues, particularly issues associated with new information and communication technologies. The subject will also provide a general knowledge of information policy and infrastructure development within organisations in the context of global and national developments and with reference to relevant industry and business sector standards. It will introduce students to the multiplicity of factors that affect the development of information policy and infrastructure in particular business contexts. The subject will provide students with strategic information planning skills and techniques, building on the knowledge and skills developed in the first two years of the major.
Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 50% + Project work (3500 word report): 50%
