Film and ideology

ENH1100 and ENH1110, or approved equivalents
Synopsis A study of the ways in which cinema and society interact.
Through close analysis of several film texts, the subject will explore the
concept of realism as a mode of representation, the cinema's treatment of
social problems, and ways in which film is susceptible to a range of
readings.
Assessment Written (4000 words): 60% + Examinations (2 hours): 40% +
