Modern drama

Synopsis This subject looks at the emergence of modernist dramatic forms
in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, particularly in Europe.
Seminars will emphasise practical and theoretical exploration of the texts and
performance styles usually associated with a range of artistic movements such
as naturalism, symbolism, expressionism, surrealism, and epic theatre. Although
required to participate in classes, students will not be assessed on their
performance skills.
